Today was our first trip to the bike path this summer. Isaac learned how to ride a 2-wheeler w/o training wheels last summer but got frustrated with all the turning in the driveway so quickly gave up. We went to the bike path today for a ride to DQ and he rode his 2-wheeler all the way!!! The path is fairly straight so he was pretty confident-even steering through an obstacle of dog poo that someone left in the middle of the path. And I actually ran with him, well jogged, for about 1/2 of the way. And if you know me at all, you know that I don't run.
Rylie raced Uncle Reed for at least 1/2 mile. He was running and she was riding. He beat her but he said that he was running a good pace and wasn't gaining on her so he had to kick it into high gear to catch up. It was a pretty good match. She surprised him. And she really does need a bigger bike. That would've helped her out.
We had a nice visit with Grandma Conrad this morning. Please keep her in your prayers. Grandpa passed away last November. She said that the days can get long and lonely but she tries to stay busy. Her ability to go out into the community is limited due to her own health limitations.
Test results: Rylie took a computerized "reading" test at school at the end of the year and tested at a 7th grade level! I think it was more of a vocabulary test. Her teacher (1st grade) has never had anyone score above a 5th grade level and LeAnn, my sister-in-law & 3rd grade teacher, hasn't had any of her kids test that high either. Rylie's teacher told the class that someone scored that high but she would tell that person in private. Some of the boys were saying, "It was me. It was me!" When Mrs. Heminger told Rylie, she smiled & said "really?!" And that was it. Her teacher was surprised she didn't even tell any of her friends. She was very modest about it in class--not bragging at all. But, I'm her mom, so I can brag!
