Yesterday, we went to a Settler Celebration. The kids love to play pioneers and this was right up their alley!! They got to make pioneer rag dolls, churn butter, make an indian necklace, decorate a pioneer toy, make apple cider, dip candles, do pioneer woodworking and explore dying fabric with flowers, to name a few. They also went on a wagon ride. Isaac and I both sat on the percheron horse; they are VERY big draft horses. Rylie wouldn't, of course. There was no way she was getting up on that horse. She did tell them that if they brought a pony she would next year. We also played with pioneer outdoor toys. They got to see my skills at walking on stilts!!! I must say that I am pretty good! I can't remember if I had some when I was little or if I used my aunts'. There were a few other things that the kids didn't get to do, but they definitely want to go back next year! We paid $5 to park but all of the activities were free.

Today, the kids got an overhead projector. Rylie has been wanting one to play school with at home. This weekend was a big clean out weekend at church. They were getting rid of 2 projectors--anyone who wanted them could have them. Mrs. Gathany wanted one to enlarge patterns with but knew how much Rylie wanted one. So, she took one and gave it to Rylie (and Isaac) this morning with this condition--she could borrow it about once a year to enlarge her patterns.
Rylie had made a chart for her class to list
long A and short A words.

This was Isaac's lesson on George Washington.
