July 4th!

What a July 4th celebration! So thankful to those who have fought and are still fighting for the freedoms that we are so blessed with here in the United States of America! We also celebrate the freedoms that we have in Christ...we are sinners who have been forgiven and set free!

It was such a blessing to listen to Reed preach at his church on Sunday. It is so amazing at how God uses many tools to hammer home something he is trying to teach us. Since April, and including Reed's message, God has been teaching me to give control to him, to truly surrender all to him and to preach the gospel to myself daily. The gospel is not just about salvation...it can transform our lives daily as we try to live like Christ. Or as I heard yesterday, as we allow ourselves to be the riverbed and let the Holy Spirit flow freely through that riverbed of our hearts. As sinners saved by grace, we can never truly be like Christ, so we need to let Him live through us. As put by Elyse Fitzpatrick, "I am more sinful and flawed than I ever dared believe, yet more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope." So why not let Him live through me!!! He loves me and knows the plans He has for me. Romans 8:16-17 says, "The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." I can share in Christ's glories! Matthew 16:24 "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." It is my prayer that I will daily take up my cross of surrender and let the Spirit live through me.

Thank you to Marilyn and Arlis, LeAnn's parents, for a wonderful lunch and time of fellowship after church!

Later on the 4th, we enjoyed watching the airport fireworks on Mom's front porch again. A small group this year, but lots of fun!!

Fun on Uncle Reed's back.
I think Susie wanted in on the fun!
Scooter fun!
Rylie wasn't about to smile b/c she thought
