Once again, the kids didn't have school on Friday due to teacher inservices. So, we took advantage and went to Fort Wayne for a few days. We were able to go on a field trip to the pumpkin farm on Friday and the kids had a blast. I was able to get some cool pumpkins, gourds, and Indian corn for my porch decorations! I also got my mums!!! I love fall! Lots of capture the flag, pioneer play...and we were able to see Mackenzie play volleyball. We woke up Saturday to some rain which canceled Grayson's flag football game. We had a wonderful time!
The kids at pumpkin school

They learned lots of neat facts about seeds, varieties,
crops, uses, and more...!

The search is on!

Isaac made his selection.

And Rylie made hers.

From Fort Wayne, we headed to Bluffton for a family gathering at Grandma Conrad's. Aunt Charlene got pumpkins for all the kids and Grandma had pumpkin carving tools for all!
Uncle Pat helped to take off all the pumpkin tops.
You can see the look of anticipation on Isaac's face!

Rylie...meticulously removing the pumpkin guts.

Isaac...digging in!

Rylie was the only kid (under 16) who carved the face on her own.
The others drew their faces and adults cut them.
You can see the concentration on her face...note the tongue!

The final product...She wasn't thrilled with the asymmetry, but
we told her it was awesome for the first time!!!

Aunt Diane wanted to bake the pumpkin seeds.
Isaac did an awesome job helping her collect them.

Rylie, Isaac and their Great-Grandma Conrad

Since it was a rainy day, Aunt Diane brought wonderful indoor activities!
That must be the retired teacher in her! She had gotten these foam scraps
from the Nerf factory so the kids were able to play dodge ball in the garage!
Nerf Factory! What a cool place for a field trip! We love all things Nerf!
I need to research where that is!!!!
The kids are collecting their ammo!
