Snow Day...A Hodge Podge of Fun!

We are definitely bummed to be into serious make up day numbers now, but it was nice to have the kids home last week. And nice to have Mamma next door so they didn't feel so cooped up in just our house. A change of scenery was good for them! It was also super nice to have Matt home! He was supposed to be working from home much of the week anyway, but the ice canceled the travel he did have scheduled. Kind of a bummer when he left this morning, though.

Here is a hodge podge of pictures from the week.
As you can see in the pictures,
we spent most of the week in pajamas or lounge clothes!

The kids got stilts for Christmas and have almost mastered them!

Ice skating fun! The kids have outgrown their real ice skates, so they
wore their carpet skates outside. Worked pretty well!
Oops!Even Sue got in on the fun. I don't know if you can see
the huge chunk of ice she is carrying?? The kids kept
her well stocked!

Breakfast in bed....
Rylie came to me Friday afternoon with her apron, cooking supplies, and
cookbook wondering if she could make a date dinner for me and Matt.
This was probably sparked by some time spent with a friend of hers...
Thanks, Maddie!
Anyway, the menu she had chosen worked for a breakfast, too; so since
we needed to go to the store for the ingredients and we had late b-ball
games on Saturday, she opted for breakfast in bed instead. She did most
of the prep Friday night so there was little to do on Saturday morning.
She did get a little help from Isaac.

Making the strawberry smoothies
Cutting out the jigglers
The Bacon Cheese Quiche
If any of you have spent any time with Rylie while she is playing...
putting on a "show," "teaching," really anything...
you know that she is a talker and instruction giver!
This is Rylie explaining the menu to us.
I actually got a picture with her mouth closed!!! Shocker!
This is Isaac serving us our breakfast.
The Final Presentation:
Smoothie, Banana Muffins, Jigglers and Quiche
Yummy!

Basketball pics from this weekend:
I was hoping to get a lesson on using my camera in manual mode last week,
but with the ice, I didn't see Reed after Tuesday. Lucky for me, the settings
he used to take pics at Ry's game last week were saved in the camera so
I could use them without having to change anything!!

Go, Isaac, Go!!
Made a basket...Trying to be cool!
They played a great game and had fun together as a team!
Isaac was talking and laughing with one of his teammates.
Sweet Eli taking in a b-ball game!
Rylie...Around the defender, driving toward the basket!
And the steal!
Way to go Rylie and Isaac! Great games!

Love this post! How fun your kids made you breakfast in bed. It looked very yummy. It reminded me of those 4-H days when you would let me tag along....what a hoot! I had no clue what I was doing with those rolls we made. Thanks at least wetting my appetite for "from scratch" foods. Hope Matt's not gone for too long! Praying for you, too!
