End of Year Field Trip

This week we took a field trip to our absolute favorite local pizzeria, Six Hundred Downtown.  Thank you, Nathan and your staff, for taking the time to share with our kids the workings of your restaurant!

We love all of the pizza creations, but even more than that, we LOVE their fabulous garlic knots. The kids were able to make their own pizzas and learn how to tie the "knots."

Rylie and Isaac were impressed with the industrial stand mixer for the pizza
dough. The mixer weighed as much as a car and operated with the force
of a semi-truck.  Isaac shared the manager's exact words with everyone,
but this is my paraphrase....
"Be careful because this mixer could take your arm off
and then slap you with it."

Every time we eat at Six Hundred, we talk about the words on the employees hats, Newbie, Rookie, Master, etc.  Isaac asked about the hats, and Nathan shared that each person is hired in at minimum wage and have to take tests to work their up in pay and "hat status."  Ahhh....finally, it all makes sense!

It's called Six Hundred because their brick ovens cook the pizza at 600 degrees.

All of the kids, but especially Avery and Eli, loved to watch them toss the pizza up into the air!  And we were able to see what happened when the pizza got a hole in it....Braden got to wear it around his neck.

Thank you, again, to Nathan and his staff for accommodating our group!
 It was wonderful!
And, we'll be back SOON!
