It's Been 2 Months!

Hard to believe!  I was on a roll for about a month... lol!  But it really has been almost 2 months since my last post at the beginning of April.  I am sure many have given up on checking for updates.

We were blessed to have the opportunity to go to the Chesapeake Bay/ Virginia Beach area mid-April with Matt.  He had to sit through training all day, but the kids and I were able to get out and about. I must say that doing school in a hotel room with a 1 1/2 year old wasn't easy, but we got it done.  We ventured out to a fabulous state park recommended by a friend.  The park has beach on one side of the main road and hiking on the other.  The water was WAY to cold for swimming but the kids put their feet in and looked for shells and other treasures on the beach.  We got to watch helicopter escort an aircraft carrier into port!  We were also able to spot a snake sunbathing on our hike. We visited the Jamestown Settlement and Colonial Williamsburg, too.

Well, Avery hated the cold water....

..... And the sand!

Fun at Jamestown learning how the early
colonists and Powhatan Indians lived.

We loved all the old buildings and houses in Williamsburg.
Isaac and I also enjoyed looking at all the old cemetaries.
We found some really OLD tombstones!

And Isaac loved all the old trees!  He was dying to climb one!

Since Matt was in class, I had to suck it up and be brave!  I really don't like water and boats, especially the  thought of me driving the car onto a boat, but it was suggested by the girl at the front desk at the hotel that that would be a fun way for the kids to get to Jamestown-the ferry.  So, we did it!  And it was really no big deal at all...not crowded...easy to follow the signs and directions!  And the kids loved it.

A little more from April...
Fun at Youngs

And....the pigs have arrived!!!  Isaac is taking a pig for a 4H project this year.  We bought two so they could be buddies.  The 2nd will find its way to our freezer after fair.  He named the pigs Porkchop and Football with the hope that the names will be a reminder that this is only for a short time, but I have a feeling he will get VERY attached and have to fight back the tears on sale day.  Oh, the lessons and responsibilities learned from having animals as 4H projects...priceless!
