Frankenmuth Fun!

We left last Thursday and headed to Frankenmuth, MI for a few days. Rylie was not so thrilled about missing school on Friday and Isaac was not thrilled about missing out on a sleepover invitation, but all that was soon forgotten. We enjoyed shopping, eating, relaxing and just being together as a family with no real schedule to keep up with. Did I mention eating?!! We enjoyed walking through the HUGE Christmas store, Bronner's. It was very much commercialized, but they did have a big nativity section and Christian ornament section. And every where you looked the word Christmas was written or painted CHRISTmas. The kids wanted to know why, of course. I asked them to think about it and then they quickly realized with an "Oh, yeah." So refreshing to see such a big tourist attraction keeping CHRIST in Christmas! We also enjoyed German food and an accordian player at the Bavarian Inn and a wonderful family style chicken dinner at Zhender's. The kids liked seeing so many people in German get up. Although Isaac said he would never wear something like that. I told him that his Uncle Reed did....recently. If I find a picture, I will share.
Here are some pictures from our trip.

The kids stopped for a photo opp as we were heading out of Bronner's.
Rylie and Isaac at the Bavarian Inn with the accordian player.
This is me, Rylie and Isaac as gnomes.
Having fun at the River Place shops with my hubby.
One of the shops was a really cute cake shop. It was fun to see samples
of cakes they made and they also had lots of yummy chocolatey treats
to try! This is Isaac in an adorable little cupcake toboggan.
He put it on himself to be funny but started to get embarrassed
the longer he had to leave it on for me to get a picture.
Rylie and I had a buckeye and we all agreed that my buckeyes are better.
Isaac had a chocolate covered pretzel stick. And Matt tried the chocolate
covered bacon. Yep...bacon makes everything better, even chocolate.
We had seen this on a sign outside and it was what drew Matt in!

We went through a military and space museum while we were there.
This was an exhibit of Michigan's men and women who served our country
in the military or space program. There was a personal story included with
each exhibit telling us how each person served and fought for our freedoms.
And how some gave their life for our great nation. We are so thankful
for the men and women who have served and continue to serve &
fight for our country and the freedoms we so often take for granted.
This was probably the highlight of Isaac's trip! We drove him through
Ann Arbor on the way home. Right by The Big House as the game crowd was
heading home. It was a busy place, but he loved being there! All I wanted
to do was shout "Go Bucks" or "OH-" out the window. I did refrain...for Isaac.
And as usual, the highlight of Matt's trip....a stop at Cabela's.
